Memorial Day Quotes

There is nothing more precious than a person’s life. It takes great courage for someone to sacrifice for his country and its ideals. I don’t like war, but I understand the reasons of its existence. And I admire every American soldier. Anyone who has known me could attest this. I wrote poems and stories about the American soldiers not to convince others of my patriotism, but to earnestly show my affection and appreciation for these selfless men and women. Enjoy these Memorial Day quotes and share them with your fellow Americans.

"One thing I do know for sure is that military people are the bravest men and women a country has to offer. No one is more willing to sacrifice for his country than a soldier is. No one would put himself in the line of fire to protect his comrades, and to make way for them to move forward like a soldier would. Soldiers are indeed born of a different breed." Simon Nguyen (excerpt from A Soldier's Story)

"137 years later, Memorial Day remains one of America's most cherished patriotic observances. The spirit of this day has not changed - it remains a day to honor those who died defending our freedom and democracy." Doc Hastings

"These fallen heroes represent the character of a nation who has a long history of patriotism and honor - and a nation who has fought many battles to keep our country free from threats of terror." Michael N. Castle

"My fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." John F. Kennedy

"A man's country is not a certain area of land, of mountains, rivers, and woods, but it is a principle and patriotism is loyalty to that principle." George William Curtis

"A hero is someone who has given his of her life to something bigger than oneself." Joseph Campbell

“There is no expiration date for courage; there is no time limit for valor; there is no fitting prize for one’s patriotism.” Simon Nguyen
