Mouse meat is a popular Vietnamese cuisine. There are street markets in Vietnam dedicated wholly to this bizarre delicacy. People can either buy mouse meat or buy live mice to extract the meat themselves. Only crop-eating field mice are sold in these markets. Their meat tastes much better than that of house mice and is less prone to diseases. Unscrupulous sellers may try to sell meat of rats and house mice, but seasoned buyers will easily see through their scheme. Mouse markets are only open during harvest time. After the mice eat the crops, their meat is perfect to eat.
How do people eat mouse meat? The most popular way is to barbecue it. You could also roast or stew mouse meat. By the way, dog meat is prepared in a similar fashion. There have been no reputable studies on the health benefits or hazards of eating mouse meat.
